So usually when I want to do this type of function I'll scp the file over to a unix system run it in vim and then bring it back and do the rest of my modifications in Notepad++.Īnyway, if you could let the developers know, or give me a any recommendations work around I would be much obliged. I understand that doing it this way isn't the most complete regular expression, but it seems to work in a few other text editors, mainly I could cite that it works in vim, for example the following will run in vim: ':%s/^/|/g'. However, if you click Replace All you get an error that says 'The regular expression to search is formed badly'. If you click Replace, it will successfully place your replacement character '|' before the first character on the line. Using the Regex Replace feature, if you search for the beginning of the line '^' and try to replace it with anything really, in this case we'll say that we want to replace it with a pipe '|', when you click Find Next, it successfully finds the next line beginning after your cursor. One of the things that I sometimes have to do is insert a character before the first character on every line in the file. I frequently use Notepad++ for its search and replace feature. On to the substance, I don't know if this is the right place to post this or not, however, I think I may have found a bug with Notepad++.
